Welcome to the general library for Cold Case Simulacrum. CCSimulacrum is an abstract-format original story I've been developing since December of 2021! Most of the written lore, so far, has been hosted on toyhou.se — but since I started this website with the aim of presenting my creative works, and since full customisation of the visual presentation the text has is enticing to me, I've decided to mirror all the information to here and embellish it a bit! synopsis

The story follows Dalisay, an amateur magic programmer investigating the decade-old mystery of the Fornax Project. Starting in the early 2100s, the project was the first widespread attempt to deliver humans to other dimensions by way of an expansive, extravagant locomotive. Its infamy arose after years and years of the train and its volunteers never returning, an oddity made even more repungant by various authorities' insistence on manufacturing strange cover-up stories. Dalisay has been studying both the pragmatic social history of fornax, and most importantly, various theories of the train's inner workings. Sie's deduced the train likely malfunctioned by complete accident, with the people on it still alive and simply stuck between dimensions. Knowing the project would only further melt away from the public's periphery with time, sie takes it upon hirself to board the train and singlehandedly troubleshoot it hirself. Although hir interference is motivated by a wish to establish hirself as an accomplished programmer, Dalisay quickly gets swept into overlapping conundrums by the various uneasy train residents, all deeply contemptuous of one another, beholding different views on how the train should be dealt with.
