What's your favorite color? — January 19 2023.
I wanted him to seem very pedantic and fussy about graphic design. It feels appropriate. I feel like he's got a really really good eye for color, especially when it comes to pinning down shades and comparing them to the colors surrounding them. Obnoxious.

He's opening his claw in a blue corner. Meant to be a bit ominous.

June Reference Sheet — June 7 2023.
Starting to have more fun with his design. I came up with him wearing his ring on a necklace in the midst of this image, after realising that while Marjolaine's wedding ring was an established part of her design, Beatrix had no such matching thing. I thought the idea of it being rather hidden was quite clever.

I love naming files. If all this commentary seems sparse it's because up until now I was kind of at a loss with what to do with Beatrix and most of these sketches do betray that quite clearly.


Autumn District Summertime — June 29 2023.
Ok! Something of substance! I'm glad since here I've gotten more into designing alternate outfits for Beatrix, especially ones that are like. Very laid-back, old guy on the porch who just returned from a jog type fits. I remember when I drew this I decided the skirt was made of denim and if I recall right I tried to texture it to appear so, but it looked so horrible that I just retracted it. Good times. I think this is also the first drawing where it shows him not wearing his prosthetic!

More Flobi pictures look at them forever ok? This was what kickstarted the whole "conflict" between Isel (who likes cats) and Beatrix (who has a cat) where they don't like each other but Cygnus does enjoy Isel's presence and vice versa.

Aaaand now we hit a series of play sketches. Though I firmly knew I wanted to have Beatrix's hair cut way short, I had no clue what to do with his outfit at all. Ended up making it some weird suitlike thing based off of NASA spacesuits, hence the cluttered pockets and patches.
